About Generation Gymnastics - Letter from new Manager, Cathy Griewing

Fall 2008

Dear Parents,

Let me begin by welcoming you and your child to Term 1 at Generation Gymnastics!  We are very excited that you have chosen our facilty and are confident that you will be pleased with your decision.  For those of you returning after a summer break, I’m sure you have noticed many changes as you entered the gym this week for class.  The first and most obvious change was in the remodeling of the lobby and the gym area itself.  We have rearranged equipment and extended the floor to better support the needs of a gymnastic center in this area.

Over the past year, many of you had the opportunity to meet the previous manager and co-owner of Generation Gymnastics, Shannon McBride.  Shannon co-owned this facility along with her father, Bob McBride.  As early as August of last year, Bob was working to bring a partner in to help Shannon with the day to day operations of the business. On June 5th, Bob and I reached an agreement whereby I would begin working immediately as the business manager of the gym.  This change would allow Shannon to focus her time and attention on the aspects of the gymnastic business that she loved most:  coaching children and mentoring staff.  Unfortunately, Shannon chose to resign almost immediately and with no notice.  While we are all saddened by her decision to resign, we have respected her decision and moved forward.  We have worked together to rebuild the gym with a new vision and new goals.

I have extensive knowledge of the gymnastic industry and was the owner of All Star Gymnastics from 1992-1996.  Additionally, I currently own Kids Klub Gymbus.  The Gymbus is a mobile gymnastic program that serves 18-20 daycares and approximately 450 children weekly in St. Charles and St. Louis County.  In August, I will begin my 5th year as owner.  I am confident that my understanding of the gymnastic business will be very beneficial to the growth of Generation Gymnastics.

Throughout the course of the summer, all programs were evaluated and realigned to better meet USAG level guidelines.  The girl’s progressive gymnastics program added 2 new levels which are allowing us to more accurately place each student and allow for the necessary progression of skills.  Our boy’s progressive program has been rewritten and while it continues to be only 3 levels, each level is significantly harder and includes many more skills.  The preschool program also underwent reconstruction as we implemented a nationally recognized preschool program into the gym.  Our tumbling program has been revised, a new curriculum implemented, and more levels of learning offered.  Finally, a new cheerleading program has been added and includes programs for high school cheerleaders all the way down to our preschoolers.

I look forward to getting to meeting and getting to know all of the families in the gym.  Rest assured, while the management of the gym has changed, our goal to provide exceptional gymnastics training to the families in St. Charles County has not.  We welcome you comments and suggestions as we enter the 2008-2009 year.

Sincerely,

Cathy Griewing
Manager, Generation Gymnastics
